Girls (I mean "Drive-Ins") I have known !
A brief history of Drive-In Theatres in Australia and New Zealand (yes, there is one we might call a Drive-In).

Operating Drive-Ins
Shepparton Drive-In Vic.

You will find a link to this Drive-In in my links page. Steve, do you still have the
deterrent
across the EXIT driveway? Taken 1980.
Beenleigh Drive-In QLD.

Its very hard to get a shot that shows Screen & Building.
Taken after the Convention, August 1996.
Heddon Greta Drive-In, near Newcastle, NSW.

Before a screening of Titanic. I think Scott should have climbed higher!
Dromana Twin Drive-In, Vic.

Alice Springs Drive-In NT.

Coober Pedy Drive-In, west SA..

Note the Bumper Sticker! The Projector is in an underground museum, note the

Broken Hill Drive-In NSW.

Bowen Drive-In QLD.

Capabala Twin Drive-In QLD.

Maryborough Drive-In central Vic.

The screen blew down just after my visit. I beleive the owner died soon after.
Moe Drive-In, east Vic.

Has closed, and equipment was auctioned. My family ran this Drive-In for some years,
leasing it off the owners.
Seymour Drive-In Vic.

I bought Anamorphic lenses from the owner after it closed. Located very close to
Puckapunyal Army camp, but after the downgrading of the permanent population, hard times
hit. Take a look at the screen, as it might be No.3 screen at Dromana one day!
A good idea of what the country is like, central Vic to Qld.
Surfers Paradise Qld.

With some of the tall buildings in the background, there is not much left of this
Drive-In!
Yarrawonga Drive-In, Nth. Vic.

Not operating, but looks intact. The building is the same design as Dromana, but we have
large projection windows, no ports.
Wantirna Drive-In suburbs of Melbourne Vic.

Was a twin, but building is all that is left. This would be the busiest Drive-In in
the country if it was still going. "Trash & Treasure" market seen in
the photo.
Hamilton Drive-In West Vic.

These two are the same DI, kindly identified by David Kilderry of Coburg Triple Drive-In
Vic. (Northern suburb of Melbourne). All it needs is a good coat of paint!
New Zealand Walk-In.

Well, thats how they do it over there! Thought I better include the one with the
car, just to prove it!
How's the Projection Room - must be where the name 'Sweat Box' originated. I got all
excited when a friend who was visiting NZ said he had some photos of the only
Drive-In...........
UNKNOWN
Now a series of pictures of unknown Drive-In's. Do any of you know where they are? EMail me.

"Southa" is the only name I was given.

Not much to go on, very arty pic though!
Any more photos with captions would be great. Sorry about the download time!
